Privacy

The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser. Your measurements, part lists and prices are never sent anywhere — there is no server to send them to, no account, and no database. Sharing a calculation does not change that: there is nothing to log in to, and nothing leaves your device unless you send somebody a link yourself.

The site is paid for by ads, by links to the shops that sell what a calculator just worked out, and by two small things you can buy. The ads are served by Google and are the one part of this page where another company is involved; the section below says exactly what that means. Nothing you type reaches them.

What is stored on your device

Five things, all in your browser's local storage. The cut list optimizer remembers which cuts you have ticked off, so a job survives the screen locking. Any job you save under a name is kept the same way — the measurements you typed, the name you gave it and the date, nothing else. And when you send a cut list from one calculator to another, the drawer box calculator to the cut list optimizer, the parts themselves are written there so the second page can pick them up; that parcel holds the dimensions and labels of the parts, which are measurements you typed.

The fourth is a licence key, if you have bought the print pass or the chart pack: the key itself and nothing else — not your name, not your email, not what you paid or when. It is what lets this browser know it has already been paid, since there is no account for it to look that up from.

The fifth is your answer about ads, if you were asked — the word "granted" or "denied", nothing more. It is kept so the question is asked once rather than on every page.

All five stay on your device, are readable only by this site, and are cleared whenever you clear your browser data. None of it is ever sent anywhere — there is no server to send it to — and nothing in it identifies you. Saving does not create an account: there is still nothing to log in to. Because they live in one browser, saved jobs do not follow you to another device — a share link is how you move one — and clearing site data removes them, so a save is not a backup. You can export or delete the lot from your saved jobs, and the optimizer's "Dismiss" button clears a waiting parcel straight away.

Sharing a calculation

Every calculator has a "Copy link to this layout" button. The measurements travel inside the link — a stair is eight numbers, and those eight numbers are written into the address itself. The link is assembled in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and this site never sees it or knows it exists.

The flip side is worth saying plainly. Anyone you send the link to can read those numbers, and so can whatever you paste it into — a messaging app, an email, a job-site group chat may all keep their own copy. A link is a way to hand somebody a layout, not a way to keep one private.

Analytics

We count page views with Vercel Analytics so we know which calculators are worth building more of. It sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device, so it cannot follow you between sites or recognise you on a return visit.

Ads

The site carries ads from Google AdSense: one beside the page on a wide screen, or under the FAQ on a phone, and one at the foot — and the one at the foot is the only thing on this site that goes on a printout. Google serves them, which means Google sees the ordinary things a browser tells whoever it fetches from: the page you are on, your IP address, your browser, and whatever cookie it already had on this device. It may use those to pick which ad you get, here and on other sites running its ads.

Where European data protection law applies, none of that happens until you have said it may. Google's script is not loaded, not one request is made and no cookie exists to argue about until you answer the question at the bottom of the screen — and the answer can be changed or withdrawn here, at any time, with no consequence for anything else on the site.

What Google does not get is anything you typed. Your measurements, part lists, prices and saved jobs never leave your browser, so there is no route by which an ad could be picked using them, or by which the shelf you are building could follow you anywhere.

You can change what Google personalises at My Ad Center, and block the cookies outright in your browser's settings — the calculators work exactly the same either way. If you would rather the ad were not on your paper, the print pass takes it off your printouts for ninety-nine cents; printing with it on stays free.

Buying something

Checkout happens on the shop's own page, not this one. No card number, billing address or email arrives here — there is no server here for one to arrive at — and the only thing that comes back is a licence key, which you type in and this browser keeps. The site never learns who bought what, which also means it cannot look your key up for you: keep the email the shop sent.

Fonts and hosting

The typeface is served from this site rather than a third-party font CDN, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited. Hosting is Vercel, which keeps standard server request logs.
